11 ways to use ChatGPT for fundraising

This is it.  We’re in full swing of the year now and I predict that 2023 will be fast and furious.

I’ve got one word for you: ChatGPT.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know about ChatGPT which is Open.ai’s chatbot that uses the entire internet as a dataset.  This thing is a gamechanger and I encourage you to play around with it.  Here are some ideas about how it can legitimately make your life easier:

  1. Use it to create your annual appeal letter.  I did a test run and it was…pretty good.
  2. Create your quarterly board agenda.
  3. Use it to write personalized emails to donors.
  4. Create an outline of a strategic plan.
  5. Respond in a personalized and timely way to donor questions and concerns.
  6. Automated reminders to donors about their gift.
  7. Write those pesky social media posts and newsletter copy.
  8. Fine-tune your mission statement.
  9. Create a script for your donor meetings.
  10. Generating potential objections to a gift.
  11. Collect and analyze donor behavior.

Really, the possibilities are endless.

Which begs the question: so if everyone nonprofit can access this technology, how do I stand out?

Your competitive advantage: being a human.

Humans have stories.  Humans have emotions.  Humans have the ability to emotionally connect and compel action.  Humans have personalities.

Use the technology to free up your time to be more human with your donors.

Leave the technical to the bots, nurture the emotional connections to the humans.

What do you think?
