17 lessons to round out 2021

Dear friends,

As we head into the end of the year, I wanted to share some lessons that keep me from spinning off my axis.  It’s a hectic time of year and I hope that this provides some peace of mind to you (and hopefully a chuckle).

So, here are Rhea’s Rules to Live By (a work in progress):

  • Everything is figureoutable.
  • Take nothing personally.
  • All conflicts boil down to one of two things: How much do you love me and who’s in charge here?
  • You can’t make anyone do anything they’re not going to do.
  • Trying to change people into doing what you think they should do/be/have is a tremendous waste of time and energy.
  • Life is 50% great and 50% shit.
  • Say what you mean, mean what you say and you’ll (be more likely to) get what you want.
  • If you’re not turning anyone off, you’re not turning anyone on.
  • Clear is kind.
  • Tell the truth.  To yourself most of all.
  • If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no.
  • Take a deep breath, drink some water, sleep for eight hours and come back to it later.
  • You’re grown and can do whatever you want with your life/hair/money/career/future.
  • It’s better to ask forgiveness than permission.
  • Everyone caters to the craziest person in the room.
  • Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Aaaand, my personal favorite:

  • Surprise!  Nobody else knows what they’re doing either!

Friends, it’s been a great honor to be in your inbox every week.  Mostly, I’m in awe that all of you are out there trying to make the world a little bit better, a little bit kinder and a little bit more fair.

Thank you for all you do.

I’ll be on hiatus next week, but look forward to being back in 2022 with new updates, new insights and lots more fun guests.

Happy holidays to you and yours.

Rhea
