This week’s interview with Dr. Ellen Wong was a revelation.
Ellen specializes in happiness and is spreading her message about the benefits of happiness to the world.
Grumpy New Yorker that I am, my first thought was, “Happiness? What kind of hippy nonsense is that?”
Ellen walks us through the elements of happiness that she found in her research, but I was most struck that one of the biggest factors of happiness is the ability to control our own time.
Time is the most precious non-renewable resource that we have and yet we squander it all over the place.
In a world that is increasingly fast-paced and hectic, how do we manage to get it all done, not lose our minds and still make time for the things we say are important to us?
I’ve been experimenting with Monday Hour One for the last couple of months and, while I don’t follow it as faithfully as I should, it’s helped to alleviate some of the pressure that comes from never-ending to-do lists.
Now, I just need to fit in some downtime in my schedule.
As Ellen reminds us: productivity is NOT about doing more things, it’s about making time for the things that you want (including rest).
