Frequently asked question

Excellent question.  There are a lot of people out here talking the talk, but can’t do the walk.  Over a 12 year period as the Executive Director of Breakthrough New York, I built our fundraising from about 200K per year to $3M in 100% private donations annually.  This included funding from institutional foundations, corporations, events, and individuals.  I made all the mistakes so you don’t have to.  Now, I’m on a quest to teach others what it took me over a decade to learn because the world cannot wait for important change.  I believe that you are doing vital work for the world and the more you can get resources to you, the better the world will be.  Need more?  Check out my media page and listen to my podcasts.

Right now, I’m limiting my client work to focus on my group coaching Accelerator.  I’m not actively looking to bring on new clients.  However, if you feel like you have an exciting project, I’m always open to hearing new ideas.  Please book a call and fill out the form to let me know what you have in mind.  Generally, projects that interest me are fundraising coaching projects, help with scaling up organizations, executive coaching of senior leaders and strategy projects.

If it’s not right for me, or something I can take on, I’m happy to refer you to my trusted network of colleagues.

I’d be happy to hear more about you.  Please fill out this application form.  I’ll reach out to you if it’s a fit.  Extra encouragement to BIPOC women!

That would be Stevie Wonderdog.  He’s the most magnificent, grumpiest dog in the world.  He’s my co-worker, co-pilot and soul mate.  He’s so named because he used to be blind (he’s not anymore after we got him cataract surgery) and also sings love songs.  As if you need another reason to subscribe to my weekly newsletter, you’ll get a new weekly Stevie pic.  Bonus!

After twenty years of wearing contacts every day, I decided to start wearing glasses because, shoot, I’m old and my eyes are tired.  My favorite go-tos are SEE Eyewear (tell Brianna that Rhea sent you) and my pink pairs are from Punto Ottico.

Thanks for asking.  It’s REE-ya, not RAY-ya.  So named after the Greek goddess Rhea, mother of all Olympian gods and wife/sister to Cronus.  Ok, so that last part is pretty icky and weird, but I don’t make the stories here.  Just know that she was a VIP and a total badass who was eventually killed by her ingrate children.  Typical.

I totally recommend starting a podcast.  I would avail myself of an online course to learn podcasting (I took one on Teachery.com), buy yourself some equipment (I use the trusty Blue Yeti), teach yourself basic audio editing (I use Audacity) and a distribution platform (I use Anchor.fm).  Have fun!
