How to Create Genuine Connections with Donors

If your donor list is shrinking, you are not alone.

Did you think, “It must just be me?” Are you wondering what has changed?

When we think back over the last couple of years since the pandemic, consumer behavior has become digitized. Donors’ response to traditional norms of fundraising cycles are being replaced with donors who are looking for an emotional connection.

The nonprofit sector is struggling to make the change while the private sector is eating our lunch! Selling products because of how they make you feel instead of the convenience of price and location has become the new norm.

🌊If you have been bogged down in the daily details and haven’t had time to look at the big picture, let me tell you that we are in the middle of a sea change in philanthropic giving.

Ready to navigate the waves and get your ship sailing into the future?

My friend Nathan Chappell shares some ways to reverse engineer your thought processes to find donors that will give you a higher retention rate and lifetime value.

  1. Use technology to create efficiency in your processes in order to leave more time for face to face interactions.
  2. Be transparent in your requests for your donors. Don’t hide the path of your journey. Make sure you are both on the same page.
  3. Evaluate your success by the strength of your connections instead of just dollar signs. Build better, not necessarily bigger.

🔧It’s broken, but we can fix it! We are the sector of relationships and trust. It requires deep digging within a safe space to evaluate where we are currently and build new approaches moving forward.
