Isn’t Peking duck basically a turkey?

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it’s dedicated to giving thanks and eating.  For any of you familiar with Asian families, food is love.  We don’t say things like, “I love you.”  We say things like, “Have you eaten enough?  Have more.”

That phenomenon might explain a lot of Asian peoples’ obsession with food.  First, because Asian food is delicious AF.  Second, it’s the few examples of familial love that we get.

It’s OK.  I’ve worked this out with my therapist.

Anyhoo…

On the topic of giving thanks (smallpox blankets aside), it’s a really nice time to reflect on that which brings us joy.  It is so very easy in the hectic pace of life to forget the gifts and blessings that we have.

I want to thank you, dear reader, for being in my community.  Every week, it’s a privilege to pop into your inbox.  I’m grateful for work that I find personally meaningful and fulfilling.  I’m grateful to have been born in this country at this time where there’s so much opportunity available.  I’m grateful for my brain that creates, for my hands that can help, for my ability to stand and walk with those I admire.  I am grateful for my voice that can be raised to advocate for change.

I am thankful to be in the company of people like you who are working towards making the world a better place.

Thank you, friends, for all you do.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

What are you most thankful for?  Send me a line!  I love hearing from folks:)
