Newsflash: If your current donor cultivation strategy was born out of a survival mode mindset, it may not be functioning as well as you think.
That’s because the best fundraising strategies require creativity, ambition, relationships, and future-focused stewardship.
And it’s really hard to be creative, ambitious, and relational when you’re trying not to die. 😵
The problem is, when you’re in survival mode, you tend to look for the quick fix, the easy money, and the uncommitted donor instead of inviting donors to become philanthropic partners in the work you’re accomplishing together.
Big-dollar giving only happens when you take the time to nurture your leads, nurture your donors, and prove to them that you’re stewarding their money well.
And that’s generally not a quick process. It’s more like a “low and slow” simmer of ethical and successful philanthropy. 🍲
But, let’s be honest, we’re all here because we want to shortcut the journey from surviving to thriving.
So here are a few things you can do to get there faster:
#1: Adjust your mindset.
#2: Borrow my strategy.
#3: Get your board involved.
I recently did a donor pipeline training for my inner circle that will help you begin to tap into your executive mode so you can fix your pipeline and 10x your donations.
This week’s podcast is just a snippet of that training, but it’s packed with incredibly useful and practical info to get you started on revamping your donor cultivation strategy. 😎
Check out the details below!

Executive directors, are you tired of chasing after those $20 donations like a squirrel on espresso? Yeah, me too. And let me tell you, focusing all our energy on foundation grants and corporate donations because they seem easier is a bit like preferring instant noodles over a gourmet meal—it sort of does the job, but we’re left feeling unsatisfied. 😖
Let’s talk about moving away from survival-mode tactics that leave us feeling icky and instead, start nurturing genuine relationships with our donors. I’m dishing out all my secrets on identifying prospects and building a donor pipeline of people who are as excited about our cause as we are—because let’s face it, sending a million “just checking in” emails is about as fun as watching paint dry.
In this episode, I’m breaking down why it’s crucial to focus on those individual donors and how creating meaningful connections can lead to those juicy, significant gifts we dream about.
Remember, folks—desperation is the world’s worst cologne. It’s time to start fundraising with confidence, swagger, and a whole lot of heart. 💖
