My pal Dodo

I have a friend whose name is Dodo.  She’s 102 years old and a pistol.  She lives half of the year in Florida and the other half on Long Beach where she flirts with the young surfers.  When she’s in Florida, she says, “Rhea, I don’t talk to anyone.  Everyone here is SO OLD.”There is a lot to love about Dodo, but mostly it’s that she lives life completely on her own terms and for her, life is incredibly simple. She seizes the day and doesn’t waste her time on meaningless people or activities.  In other words, she is just fresh out of f’s to give about what you think because she just ain’t got that kind of time.  And I really respect that. Mostly, I’m incredibly encouraged when I leave her a voicemail and she ends with “Everything is OK.”  After 102 years on this planet, I figure she knows better than most.  I’ve included Dodo’s advice on a long and happy marriage.
