No, we’re not OK.

This weekend, I was on a phone call with members of our Asian Boss Ladies network.

I heard anger.  Fear.  Outrage.

In the aftermath of the murders of Michelle Go and Christina Lee, Asian American women are not doing OK.

We are afraid to ride the subways.  We are afraid to walk down the street.  We are outraged that these are not being called hate crimes.  We’re crying in the middle of our work days and then jumping on another Zoom meeting.

We are wondering where our allies are.

We are wondering why people haven’t thought to check in with us to see how we are doing.

We want to know who is standing with us, just as we stood with others.

We are outraged at a broken system that allows mentally ill, violent people out on the street.

Just because you’re not hearing the pain doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

So, please, reach out to your AAPI friends, colleagues, staff members and ask how they’re doing.  Ask what you can do.  Ask how you can help.  Ask how to be a support.

And say their names.
