I recently read this great book called Tell Yourself a Better Lie about how the stories we tell ourselves and the meaning we make of things that happen determine our lives.
All disempowering stories essentially break down to three themes: 1) I’m not good enough 2) I’m different therefore I don’t belong 3) what I want is not available to me.
Who would we be if we stopped believing these stories about ourselves?
I also came across this interview with Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code, who said this:
“We’ve bought and been fed this propaganda that we’re not good enough, that we’re not smart enough and that we don’t belong. The real resistance in this moment is to say…I’m not buying into that bullshit. I’m here and I can lead too.”
Dear readers, I challenge you to consider what stories you’re telling yourself.
What would be different for you if you walked into a room and assumed that you already got a yes?
How would you show up differently if all of the money in the world already existed for you and all you had to do was find it?
How would your life be different if you truly believed that you were enough, that you belonged and that everything that you want is possible for you?
PS: The Fundraising Accelerator application is open for the September session. Learn to unspool those story gremlins:)
