You win or you learn.

When we look at people who have achieved great things in their lives, it’s easy to tell ourselves stories about why it can’t be the same for us.

They’re different.  They’re smarter.  They work harder.  They’ve had more advantages.  They went to fancy schools etc. etc etc.

After a certain threshold of intelligence, I believe that it boils down to one thing:

Willingness to fail and to learn from the failure.

Make no mistake–I know that systemic racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia etc exist.  And yet, does the constant awareness of these constraints serve us in our highest purpose?

Why not choose to believe in our innate amazingness, ability and talent instead?  Why not become a wild success because of forces that seek to keep you down?  After all, diamonds are made under enormous pressure.

So many of us are afraid to swing for the fences.

Sometimes, when you swing big you’ll miss.

Sometimes, you’ll hit a home run.

By being willing to fail/look foolish/invite criticism, you’re willing to play a bigger game.

And there is no such thing as failure: you either win or you learn.  Swing big.
